Cyprus Centre for Environmental Research and Education (CY.C.E.R.E.) was founded by the Holy Church of Limassol in the framework of its pastoral work and its intellectual contribution. By this foundation, Holy Church of Limassol contributes actively to the protection of the Cypriot natural environment and more specifically to the protection of the natural environment of the Akrotiri peninsula. For this purpose, St. Nicholas Farm, which is located in the heart of the Akrotiri Peninsula, has been used for the centre’s establishment.
CY.C.E.R.E. is the first environmental Centre founded by Orthodox Church. The example of the Holy Church of Limassol was then followed by other churches such as the Archdiocese of Athens, whereas other international churches have similar action.
