European Research Project “Fibonacci”

Participation of CY.C.E.R.E. in Fibonacci

Fibonacci_logo_website copyThe Cyprus Center for Environmental Research and Education participated in the European project “Fibonacci”. The program, which began in January 2010, has duration of three years. The aim of the Fibonacci project is to promote methods for the dissemination of appropriate educational approaches and creative ideas among the various countries of Europe, with respect to the field of natural sciences and mathematics. For the purposes of the program CY.C.E.R.E. has “paired” with St’ Patrick’s University in Dublin, Ireland.

On the 14th and 15th of January, representatives of CY.C.E.R.E. participated in an educational Fibonacci visit in Dublin, Ireland. More specifically, members of the scientific / pedagogical group of CY.C.E.R.E., met with the relevant coordinator professors at the University of St’ Patrick’s to exchange ideas, expertise and to become acquainted the work done by the two bodies.

During the two days there was a briefing concerning the goals and activities of Fibonacci in Ireland, its implementation in various schools and its results. Regarding CY.C.E.R.E., there was a presentation related to the general action and overall effect of the environmental center, as well as to its educational programs.

Through constructive discussions and our involvement in the project, began a promising European cooperation with the University of St ‘Patrick’s.
