Flora, plant exploration – Aims of the program

The aims of the Environmental Education Program “Flora, plant exploration” are:

Students:

  1. To learn and to get familiarized with the vegetation and the plants encountered at the Akrotiri Peninsula
  2. To understand the different types of living plants.
  3. To identify the plant parts and to understand the key elements by which we characterize, we name and we classify a plant.
  4. To identify different plants.
  5.  To study characteristic plant communities into specific habitats.
  6. To explore the differences in flora, according to biotic or abiotic factors that affect it.
  7. To develop the ability of critical thinking through the exploration of the anthropogenic pressures and threats.
  8. To realize of the ecological importance of plants and to develop positive attitudes and values.
