Dr. Demetra Paraskeva – Hadjichambi is the Head of the Environmental Education Department of the Cyprus Center for Environmental Research and Education (CYCERE) and a Biology Consultant at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth. She worked at the Department of Educational Sciences of the University of Cyprus from 2005-2012. She has participated in a number of competitive European and national funding research projects such as ENVIROCITIZEN, ENEC COST ACTION, PROFILES, PARRISE, MASS, FLORA, EYOIKO, etc. where, among other things, she had the opportunity to contribute to the development, research validation and evaluation of innovative learning material related to Biology and Natural and Environmental Sciences. She is contributing as a Group Leader for Secondary Education of the European Environmental Network (ENEC), which includes 87 Universities and Research Institutes from 38 countries and more than 130 academics, researchers and scientists. She was a member of the team of experts of the Ministry of Education and Culture, as a Content Specialist, for the development of Digital Educational Content for Biology. She coordinated groups of students for several Environmental Education programs operating in Cyprus Secondary Education (Golden Green Leaf, Globe, Eco-Schools, Young Reporters for the Environment). She organized many workshops for the Professional Development of teachers. She participated in the design, development, implementation and research validation of 16 Environmental Education Programs which are successfully provided by CYCERE. She is a co-author of the 4 Biology Activities Books that are applied in the Secondary Education of Cyprus from the 7th to 10th Grade and the respective Teacher’s Guides. She has published dozens of articles in international scientific journals, dozens of scientific papers in international scientific conferences, 3 scientific books and 15 Teachers’ Guides. The work of Dr. D. Paraskeva – Hadjichambi has received many awards and distinctions in Cyprus and abroad.
