font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The Cyprus Centre for Environmental Research and Education (CYCERE) recognizing that all organizations and businesses can have a direct or indirect impact on the local, regional and, consequently, the global environment, aims at the emergence of Organizations \/ Businesses that have developed and adopted environmentally friendly policies as they contribute in activities and actions to protect the environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The awards are co-organized by the CYCERE and the Office of the Commissioner for the Environment and under the auspices of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT), the Association of Employers and Industrialists (OEB), the Cyprus Tourism Businesses Association (STEK), the Organization of Professional Women Entrepreneurs of Limassol.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">For the above cause the\u00a0<strong>following\u00a0three (3) Awards<\/strong>\u00a0are awarded to Organizations \/ Businesses complying the purposes and conditions set by CECERE*:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><em>Bronze Medal for Environment<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><em>Silver Medal for Environment<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><em>Gold Medal for Environment<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; In addition, it reduces the consumption of natural resources through the adoption of appropriate best techniques, thus contributing to sustainable development. It also undertakes actions for the environmental upgrading of its premises and in the context of its social responsibility, it strengthens in various ways the local environmental agents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; It is clarified that not all nominees for the awards are recognized; selection is made based on the scores given by the Evaluation Committee. There have been cases where nominations have been rejected or their category\/level changed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">There is a competitive aspect to the awards, as all Organizations\/Enterprises compete for the &#8220;Golden Cedar&#8221; based on the scores they receive for their nomination.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Any complaints regarding violations of environmental legislation by the nominated Organization\/Enterprise will be investigated and reviewed. These checks will be intensified, with information gathered from other departments and relevant authorities (e.g., Office of the Environment Commissioner, KYCPEE, Department of Environment, Department of Forests), or from reports in the media or other members of the Evaluation Committee.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
