\nAND PANCYPRIAN AWARDS GREEN CITIES &<\/span><\/strong><\/span>
\nGREEN COMMUNITIES OF CYPRUS 2018<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Award Ceremony of the “Pancyprian Environmental Awards for Organizations & Companies” and the “Pancyprian Awards Green Cities & Green Communities of Cyprus”<\/strong> for 2018 took place on January 22<\/strong>, 2019 at the Presidential Palace.
\n<\/span>The delivery of the Awards was made by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Anastasiadis.<\/strong><\/span>
\nIn particular, the President of the Republic awarded all the awarded Organizations and Companies with the Honorary Medals, and all the Green Municipalities and Green Communities of Cyprus with the Green Flag which will be waving from tomorrow outside the City Halls and Community Councils.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Pancyprian Environmental Awards for Organizations & companies were established on the initiative of the Cyprus Environmental Research and Training Center CYCERE of the Holy Diocese of Limassol in collaboration with the Environment Commissioner Ms. Ioanna Panagiotou, the Technological University of Cyprus, the Federation of Employers & Industrialists, the Cyprus Tourism Business Association, the Cyprus Organization of Women Entrepreneurs of Limassol and the Together Volunteer Network.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Pancyprian Awards Green Cities & Green Communities of Cyprus were established on the initiative of the Cyprus Center for Environmental Research and Education CYCERE<\/strong> of the Holy Diocese of Limassol in collaboration with Environment Commissioner Ioanna Panagiotou<\/strong>, the Union of Municipalities of Cyprus and the Communities union of Cyprus. The awards were also supported by participating in the Scientific Evaluation Committee of Cyprus technological university, ETEK and the Cyprus Citizens’ Energy Office.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

For the year 2018, a total of 17 Organizations<\/strong> and Companies<\/strong> are awarded, and 9 Municipalities and 3 Communities<\/strong> of Cyprus for their environmental projects.<\/span><\/p>\n

Specifically, the following Organizations and Companies are awarded with an Honorary Medal:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The following Green Municipalities and Green Communities of Cyprus are awarded the Green Flag for the year 2018:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>Municipality of Ayia Napa
\n<\/span>Community of Miliou
\n<\/span>Municipality of Strovolos
\n<\/span>Municipality of Larnaca
\n<\/span>Pissouri Community
\n<\/span>Municipality of Livadia
\n<\/span>Louvara Community
\n<\/span>Municipality of Athienou<\/span><\/p>\n

The Green Cities and Communities of Cyprus, with their award, are automatically included in the Network of Green Cities and Communities of Cyprus created and coordinated by CYCERE.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Special Honorary Distinction, the “Golden Mouflon” for 2018<\/strong> and the title Green Capital of Cyprus for 2018<\/strong> was awarded to the Municipality of Strovolos<\/strong> for his work “Campaign to reduce the use of disposable plastics – To act smart, to act ecologically” which gathered the highest score of all the candidate projects in all Categories.<\/span><\/p>\n

Regarding the Pancyprian Environmental Awards for Organizations & Businesses, the Golden Honorary Distinction of the Awards was awarded to CYTA<\/strong> – Cyprus Telecommunications Authority, as the organization that collected the highest score of all the nominations.<\/span><\/p>\n

The President of the Republic noted in his greeting that with the establishment of these Awards we give another incentive to the Local Authorities and we promote our Municipalities and Communities that undertake and carry out green projects for their citizens. He also noted that the Green City Awards & Green Communities of Cyprus are a new green innovation that will benefit in various ways our Municipalities and Communities and our country in general. We are moving forward with vision and innovation and in environmental issues, he noted.<\/span><\/p>\n

The President of the Republic also congratulated the Organizations and Companies that were awarded for their work.<\/span><\/p>\n

The President of the Republic also announced the Pancyprian Awards for Green Cities and Green Communities of Cyprus, as well as the Pancyprian Environmental Awards for Organizations and Companies for the next year, 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n
