Leaves variegated, broadly elongated, with a heart-shaped base and apex or biloba top, once pentalova. Flowers axillary, solitary, with peduncle about 3.5 cm. Separately generally blunt and naked. Wreath large, funnel-shaped, white or yellow-white.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Spreading<br \/>\n<\/strong>Mediterranean, tropical and subtropical regions. In Cyprus, 14 sites along the coastline were identified: Kato Paphos (2 sites), Lake Mine, Pyrgo Tilliria, Akrotiri Peninsula (2 sites), Bogazi Trikomou, Vokolida in the Gulf of Famagusta, Apostolos Andreas, Flamoudi, Alakati and Agia Irini.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Habitat<br \/>\n<\/strong>Coastal sandy and sandy loam sites and primary sand dunes in various types of sand-loving communities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Biology<br \/>\n<\/strong>Flowering: July &#8211; November. Fruiting: September &#8211; January. It is a species resistant to high temperatures, friction, and burial from the sand and low availability of nutrients and a pioneer in the colonization of sandy shores.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Preservation status and threats<br \/>\n<\/strong>The total number is estimated at around 1000 &#8211; 1500 plants with higher sub populations in Agia Irini, Vokolida and Akrotiri. It threatens to lose \/ degrade habitat from the development of tourist facilities, road construction and residential expansion, beach cleaning with machinery and intensive use. Its population is directly threatened and has already deteriorated from the above activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Value and Use<br \/>\n<\/strong>It is a plant with cosmetic value and medicinal properties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Source:<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">Tsintides, T., Christodoulou, C.
