Dr. Anastasia Adamou is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Cyprus Center for Environmental Research and Education (CYCERE). She holds a PhD in Environmental Biotechnology and has a degree in Environmental Science and Technology from the Cyprus University of Technology. Her research focused on the study of interfacial biofilm formation processes, with an emphasis on the interactions between acidophilic microorganisms and the surfaces of sulfide minerals. She has knowledge in the following subjects of: Applied spectroscopy, Advanced Environmental Biochemistry, Advanced Environmental Biotechnology, Special topics in environmental Bio-Sciences, Advanced Environmental Microbiology, Advanced Ecotoxicology, Ecology, Management of solid and liquid waste. Her dissertation findings were published in two of the most highly impact factor Journals regarding Environmental Biotechnology, the Bioresource Technology Journal and the Minerals Engineering Journal. The published paper in Bioresource Technology Journal was highlighted as a Key Bioenergy article in Renewable Energy Global Innovations in December,2017. She has participated at the 33rd annual Pan-Hellenic Conference on solid state Physics and Materials Science (Sept. 2018) where she presented two Posters (Raman and FTIR-micro spectroscopy detection of Bornite, Chalcocite, and Covellite bacterial interactions, Raman and FTIR imaging of Graphite and nanoparticles bacterial membrane interactions). In June 2017, she was Certified as an Environmental Inspector for Environmental Managements Systems ISO 14001:2015, TUV Austria. For 4 years she was the leader in the Laboratories of Environmental Microbiology and Environmental Micro- spectroscopy. She has gained extensive teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant in a variety of laboratory courses in undergraduate and postgraduate level. She has worked as a Special Scientist/Lecturer at the Department of Environmental Science and Technology and as an External Special Associate by providing tutoring lessons to students. She has worked as an External Special Associate in a Research Center regarding the protection and monitoring of marine ecology and biodiversity.
