The Pancyprian Scientific Conference: Environment and Orthodoxy organized by the Cyprus Centre for Environmental Research and Education (CYCERE) of the Holy Bishopry of Limassol in collaboration with the Department of Theology and Culture of the University of Nicosia, the Cyprus Technological University (CUT) and the Pancyprian Association of Greek Theologists was held with a great success on Saturday 28th of November 2015 at the Event Hall of the Holy Bishopry of Limassol under the sponsorship of the Minister of Environment and Rural Development Mr. Nikos Kouyialis. More than 150 participants and 12 speakers participated the Conference.

The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the Bishop of Limassol Athanasios, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Mr. Nikos Kouyialis, the Environment Commissioner Ms. Ioanna Panayiotou, the Associate Professor and President of the Department of Environmental Management of the School of Geotechnical Sciences and Environmental Management Dr. Costa Costa and the President of the Pancyprian Association of Greek Theologists Mr. Giorgos Kyriakou.
Representatives of the Ministry of Education and Culture, the University of Cyprus, the Cyprus Tecnological University and the University of Nicosia presented their suggestions in regards to the theme of the Conference. Additionally, the book “Bioethics of the Environment: the Orthodox approach of creation” written by the Scientific Director of CYCERE. Dr. Andreas Hadjihambis was presented by the Professor of the University of Cyprus, Dr. Stavros Photiou.
The Conference ended with a roundtable discussion regarding the Environment and Orthodoxy: a modern field Chaplaincy exercise. The discussion was moderated by the Bishop of Amathus fr. Nicolaos, President of the Cyprus Centre for Environmental Research and Education.
