Description
Annual or biennial common upright poa with large fluffy, short-stemmed or unpaired leaves with wavy lips. Flowers: yellow. Flowering: May – September. Fruit capsule.
Spread – Toxicity
It is found in the Mediterranean zone up to Iran. It prefers cultivated and uncultivated fields and sandy beaches.
The juice and seeds of the plant are toxic. In the past, seeds and leaves were used for pulverization of eels in rivers after mashing. All parts of the plant are toxic, especially the juice. Its use can cause abdominal pain, vomiting and drowsiness.
