The 5th Cyprus Celebration of the World Day of Wetlands held on 1 February 2009, at the premises of the Cyprus Centre for Environmental Research and Education, in the farm of St. Nikolaos, at Akrotiri.
The program included a greeting from the President of the Cyprus Centre for Environmental Research and Education Chorepiskopo of Amathus – Mr. Nicholas, a greeting from the representative of the Minister of Education and Culture, a greeting from the member of the parliament Mr. George Perdikis – representative of the Cyprus Green Party, a greeting from the member of the Environmental Committee of Parliament Dr. Eleni Theocharous – representative of Democratic Rally, a greetings from the Cyprus President of the Federation of Environmental and Ecological Organisations of Cyprus – Mr. Christos Theodorou, a speech about the wetlands by Dr. Andreas Chatzichambis as well as presentations of thw high school students of Lanition B’ Lyceum about for endangered plants of the Akrotiri peninsula.
